Our quality assurance system

Accurate and reliable results, every time

Sound engineering decisions begin with reliable geotechnical data. Our quality assurance system is built on nine objectives that govern how we test, review, record and report.

Objectives

How we assure quality

  1. Quality control reviews

Quality control reviews are undertaken to ensure that reports are free of errors and mistaken assumptions. For expediency and consistency the reviews are assisted by a variety of templates and checklists, designed to ensure that they are compliant with applicable guidance and standards.

  2. Documented process

Documentation of the quality control process is designed to ensure assurance that the process is completed as per the requirements.

  3. Monitoring & record keeping

Strict monitoring and record keeping of all operational processes is upheld in order to maintain compliance with the various standards by which our tests are performed and to assist in identifying any errors.

  4. Quarterly internal audits

A comprehensive internal audit and control system is done every 3 months to identify areas which need improvement and check that all machines and operations are as per standards.

  5. Trained, certified technicians

Our technicians are regularly trained by a recognised materials testing college and all hold competency certificates in their specialisation areas.

  6. Current standards

We keep a constant check on the recent updates of relevant standards so that we implement them in the shortest time possible and give out results as per the revisions.

  7. Calibrated equipment

All our machines and instruments are periodically calibrated and verified as required, on time, so that we give accurate and reliable results.

  8. Client feedback

We implement and maintain a client-feedback system through which our clients can suggest how we may better serve them, thereby making our results convenient for their purposes.

  9. Radiation management

As required by the National Radiation Protection Authority under section 33 of the Atomic Energy and Radiation Protection Act, DGS is in possession of an approved Radiation Management Plan (RMP), with the RMP report submitted annually to retain the licence to possess and use nuclear gauges for compaction control.

Prescribed standards

Tested to recognised standards

We provide authentic geotechnical services by implementing an effective quality control system as outlined by SANAS, TMH, SABS, ASTM and other prescribed standards.
